Kirby Puckett

Back in 1991, I was a really big Braves fan. I started following baseball in 1990, back when the Braves were still horrible, because back then, the Braves were the only game on television in the South. (WTBS aired their games back then, too.) When the 1991 season came around, and the Braves went from worst to first, I was excited. It just so happened that the Minnesota Twins also went from worst to first that year, and they met in the World Series. I was really really excited when the Braves swept Games 3, 4, and 5, and I just knew they would end it two nights later in the Metrodome. Then, Ron Gant hit a ball to deep center field, and something like this happened:

And then, later on in the game, this happened:

And Kirby Puckett was, for that night, the most despised player in all of baseball to me. I did later became a fan of the South Side Chicago native...
